He was born August 11, 1932 in Mayberry, W.Va. to the late Corrine P. Martin and the late George W. Martin, Sr. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Martin.George is survived by his wife, Dorothy Martin of the home; two daughters, Legaither "Gaye"Dalton of Martinsville, VA, and Devona (Charimane) Moyer of Ridgeway; and one son, Ronald Martin of Ridgeway; two step-daughters, Shirley Kitt of Va.; and Diane Hairston of Md.; seven sisters, Mae Menefee of Martinsville, Va., Catherine West, Janet Burnett and Costella Martin all of Ridgeway, Va., Barbara Oakes and Emma Martin both of N.Y.; Velma Gaskins of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Russell Martin of Ridgeway, Va.; and grandchildren; great great grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.George was a life long member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church where he served on many different auxiliaries. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Dupont.The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service and other times at the home, 219 George Martin Dr., Ridgeway, Va. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the C. R. V.
